Put an END to plastic trash in our waterways

Active360 is dedicated to raising awareness of our aquatic ecosystems. We are particularly concerned about the global proliferation of plastic pollution and how our local waterways are affected.

London’s waterways are beautiful but often under appreciated places of natural beauty. The Thames Tideway is a unique and stunning linear landscape on our doorstep and a migratory superhighway for birds and fish. Despite its powerful strong currents, tidal range of over 7m and a mysterious or even sinister muddy appearance, the Thames presents with a great fragility. It’s being spoilt by pollution and irresponsible use. We see the degradation of its beauty by the relentless stream of plastic and trash in the river day after day. This enters the rivers through land drains, blows in from overflowing riverside waste bins, riverside pubs and party boats serving beer in plastic cups and other unidentified sources of mindless polution.

We are using Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) to drive environmental and social changes. For us the enjoyment and fun of being on the water has to link with something bigger.

We want to engage people in active protection of marine environments by giving them first hand experience of being on the river and seeing for themselves what’s happening.

Often the best way to understand the extent of the problem is to get on the water, paddle to places where trash is washed up on the shoreline or trapped in the trees.
