In The Drink started in 2018 by Paul Hyman (Active360), Sarah Baker (Anti Plastics People), and Alison Baker (Ali Bee Knitwear) with help from paddleboarder friends who were tired of seeing single-use plastic cups in the Thames and wanted to promote reusable alternatives to riverside bars, events and pubs. Several riverside bars have introduced reusable cups with deposit schemes and the Boat Race is looking to make major changes in 2020 to reduce its plastic footprint.
